Abia Workers Express Displeasure Over Government’s Inability To Pay Salaries

As the strike embarked upon by the Nigerian Labour Congress Abia State chapter, enters it’s fourth day today, workers in the state capital Umuahia have continued to register their displeasure at the Government’s inability to pay workers salaries, promotion arrears and pensions to retirees.

The workers made known their challenges of not receiving their salaries as inability to feed, pay utility bills and constant debt ranging from collection of food items to beverages etc

A worker in the state, Mrs. Chinecherem Okafor, who spoke to ENYIMBA FM Umuahia correspondent Kingsley Chibuike, stated that she is a civil servant while her husband is a teacher both of whom are been owed several months of unpaid salaries. She called on the government to come to their aid.
