Gov Ikpeazu Presents Staff Of Office To 31 New Traditional Rulers
Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has presented staffs of office to 31 Ezes-elect of various communities in the state.
The staffs of office were presented to royal fathers at the Michael Okpara auditorium with a charge on them to maintain peace and protect the cultural values of their domains.
Ikpeazu, who was represented by his Deputy, Ude Oko Chukwu, said they are now duly recognized, having passed through every of the required process.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Christopher Enweremadu, who advised the new Ezes to always maintain peace and order in their various communities, commended Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for running the affairs of the State even at the tail end of his administration.
The event was almost marred as the main gate to Michael Okpara auditorium was sealed by executive members of Nigeria Labour Congress during the enforcement of strike action.
The traditional rulers and their supporters were only able to access the auditorium through a rear gate.
