Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has accusin Prof Nnenna Nnannaya-Oti, the Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the just-concluded March 18 governorship election in the state of being unfair to all parties that participated in the poll.
Ikpeazu, who spoke in a monitored television interview, said Nnannaya-Oti was “visibly happy” that she “favoured” the Labour Party (LP).
The outgoing governor also said before the poll, he carried out some background checks on the returning officer and complained to INEC that she won’t be fair in the electoral process but got assurances from the electoral umpire.
The Governor also said that it is not true that he is owing civil servants in the state salaries of several months.
He said no “core civil servant” is being owed any salary, adding that those that has issues with salaries are working in parastatals.
According to him, the issue of non-payment of pension and salaries has been there long before he assumed office and he has done his best to settle them with the expectation that his successor will continue from where he stopped.
