Digital Economy Now Exempted From Excise Duty Tax

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Pantami, says President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the exemption of the digital economy sector from 5 per cent excise duty.

Pantami made this known during a press briefing by the Presidential Review Committee on Excise Duty in Abuja.

The Minister had on Sept. 5, 2022 , suspended the imposition of a 5 per cent excise duty on the sector.

He explained that, 41 categories of taxes, levies and charges are already in the digital economy sector; hence there is no justification for an additional excise duty.
