Abia REC Calls For Review Of Some Election Results
The Embattled Abia State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Prof. Ikemefuna Uzochukwu, is revealing how he was abducted from his hotel room by security agencies on February 26th and consequently detained in their respective facilities without warrant of arrest.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner in a detailed report made available to ENYIMBA FM accused the Admin Secretary of usurping his duties without authorisation and stating that election results announced in his absence may not have met the minimum requirements as stipulated in the electoral act.
Professor Uzochukwu while calling for a review of some of the results, collated in his absence, blamed the delays in the kick off the election on the failure of NURTW and NARTO to provide the buses allotted to them on schedule.
He confirmed his release on February 28th but expressed Surprise that the National Headquarters of INEC did not respond to his report of the incident adding that his life is in grave danger.
ENYIMBA FM cannot confirm the authenticity of the reported sack of the Embattled REC as at the time of this report as enquires to the relevant authorities proved abortive.
