INEC To Issue Certificates Of Return To Newly Elected National Assembly Members

Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC says Certificates of Return will be issued to Senators elect and Members of the House of Representatives elect next week.

INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu stated this in Abuja during a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners to review the Presidential and National Assembly elections that were conducted last week.

He said for effective crowd management each Senator and Member elect should be accompanied by a maximum of two guests.

Professor Yakubu said last Saturday’s election produced 423 national legislative seats while supplementary elections would take place in 46 constituencies.

Professor Yakubu said the forthcoming elections would involve 28 State Governorship elections and 993 State Houses of Assembly seats and urged the Resident Electoral Commissioners, RECs to initiate disciplinary action where they had evidence of wrong doing.
