President Muhammadu Buhari has heaped praises on Nigerian singer and Afrobeat crooner, Temilade Openiyi popularly known as Tems for winning Best Melodic Rap Performance category at the Grammy awards.
In a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, the President describes Tems as a dedicated and talented Nigerian who has put the country on the spotlight.
President Buhari appreciates all Nigerian nominees for this year’s Grammy, including Burna Boy, for pursuing their passion with vigour and continuously reinventing global entertainment, with creativity.
He expressed gratitude to the nation’s creative industry, particularly managers, producers and directors, for encouraging talents, like Tems, who have taken Nigeria’s culture and tourism to the world.
The President notes that the award has proven that Nigerians are resourceful and that the country has enormous potential which qualifies it as a great nation.
