Abia state police command says sale and use of fireworks is still in force.

Nigeria Police Command in Abia State is reminding the citizens that the ban on the sale and use of fireworks is still in force.

In a statement issued by the command’s spokesman, Geoffrey Ogbonna, the Police Public Relations Officer, the Command disclosed that “all extant laws prohibiting the sale and use of fireworks popularly known as ‘knock-out’, ‘banger’ have been activated”.

Ogbonna, a Superintendent of Police (SP) therefore advised parents and guardians to advise their children/wards to desist from the use of fireworks, pointing out that the vendors should also “withdraw same from their stocks as anyone arrested in violation of the laws will be prosecuted”.
