Flood Washes Up Corpses at Bayelsa Cemetery
As the water level keeps rising in Bayelsa State, even the dead are not left to rest in peace as the flood has now exhumed corpses from the shallow graves at the Bayelsa State cemetery in Yenagoa.
The cemetery is located off Azikoro village road in Yenagoa has become unbearable after the corpses were uncovered by the flood.
The flood which has washed up several corpses is raising health concerns from the offensive odour in the neighbourhoods.
It has also displaced thousands of residents, compelling the electricity company in charge of the state to shut down public power supply.
This was done out of safety concerns, as most transformers had been submerged.
Meanwhile, residents near the area are appealing to the state government to relocate the cemetery to safeguard public health.
